The presence of Armenians in Central Anatolia may be related to the arrival of the Muslim Army and the Seljuk Turks to Anatolia. Due to these raids, while Byzantines were unable to protect their lands in the eastern regions, they set up military themes to secure their further lands and made Armenians in Eastern Anatolia migrate to Central Anatolia, Çukurova and Maras. With these migrations, Armenians started to appear in regions where they did not exist before. Migrations that started in the 11th century continued until the 16th century. Migrations increased in the 16th century due to the Ottoman-Safavid conflict. In the 16th century, the Armenian population was determined in Ankara, Beypazarı, Divriği, Kayseri, Niğde, Sivas, and Sivrihisar, among the cities of Central Anatolia. The demographic and social structure of these cities were evaluated. Districts of these cities were identified according to Muslim, Armenian, and other non-Muslim populations. Occupations, migration phenomenon, and economic situation in these cities were also discussed. The Armenian population in the cities was evaluated in comparison with the Muslim population.
