The disciplines that make up the Islamic thought are generally known as philosophy, kelam and tasavvuf. In these are also epistemologically philosophical and curious, while Tasavvuf sees intuition more valuable. This work indicates some disagreements between the disciplines that form Islamic thought. In particular, we see that the negative attitude of Tasavvuf to mind is explained by reference to important mutasavvufs. Therefore, this book we evaluate is a work that will benefit those who are interested in the fields of tasavvuf and kelam/philosophy in the context of epistemology.
Philosophy, theology and taṣawwuf are three main disciplines of Islamic thought. Among them, while philosophy and theology give the human intellect priority, according to taṣawwuf, unveiling/intuition is epistemologically more valuable. This book points out some disagreements seen among these disciplines. Especially, we see the negative attitudes of taṣawwuf against the human intellect with references to remarkable Sufis. Therefore, the book that we review is a beneficial source for those who are interested in comparative readings on the epistemologies of theology and taṣawwuf.
