Abstract:

The development of environmental awareness and sustainable urban design strategies in the last century has made it compulsory for urban natural resources to be planned with respect. Sustainable urban designs, on the one hand, are focused on addressing urban users’ vital needs in the short and long term, while on the other hand, they are trying to avoid destroying their resources to meet the urban needs of future generations. While developing sustainable urban designs, all resources that feed the city in an ecological, economic and cultural perspective should be evaluated in a controlled manner. The areas protected in this context are of great value for the city in which they are associated due to their ecological, economic and cultural values. Protected areas are areas that are protected by laws with a number of unusual characteristics and must be left to future generations. These areas are very valuable for a city in terms of supporting the city green, adding value to the city ecologically, culturally, socially and economically, and having the potential to revive the city tourism. The aim of this study is to reveal the benefits of urban integration in the context of sustainable urban design of these areas, which are located within or near the city border, limited to the use in the status of a protected area.
