Bu araştırmanın amacı, fen bilimleri öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğasına ilişkin inanç düzeylerini incelemektir. Araştırmada tarama deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2019-2020 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde, bir eğitim fakültesinin fen bilgisi öğretmenliğinin üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıflarında öğrenim gören 96 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Özgelen (2013) tarafından geliştirilen, beş alt boyuttan oluşan, Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı .83 olan Bilimin Doğası Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarına uygulanan ölçekten elde edilen verilere ilişkin betimsel istatistikler ve bağımsız örneklemler t-testi analizi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıf öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğasına ilişkin inanç düzeyleri arasında üçüncü sınıftaki öğretmen adayları lehine anlamlı bir fark bulunurken, cinsiyet değişkeni açısında anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğası ölçeğinin “Bilimsel Bilginin ve Bilim İnsanının Özellikleri”, “Bilimde Öznellik ve Teknoloji”, “Sosyal Kültürel Yapı” alt boyutlarından aldıkları toplam puanlar üçüncü sınıf öğretmen adayları lehine anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği, ancak “Değişime Açık Olma” ve “Bilimde Teorilerin Yeri” alt boyutları için puanlar arasından anlamlı farklılık bulunmamıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğası ölçeğinin her bir alt boyutundan aldıkları puanlar acısından inanç düzeylerinin “İyi” veya “Çok İyi” düzeylerinde olduğu görülmüştür.
The objective of this research is to study the levels of beliefs of science teachers candidates about the nature of science. The research has been used for screening. The sample of the study consists of 96 teachers candidates studying in the third and fourth classes of science knowledge teaching in the spring period of the 2019-2020 academic year. As a data collection tool developed by Özgelen (2013) the Nature Scale of Science, which consists of five sub-dimensions, was used with the Cronbach Alpha reliability ratio .83. Imaginary statistics and independent samples on the data obtained from the scale applied to the teacher candidates have been used to test t-analysis. According to the results of the analysis, there was a significant difference between the levels of beliefs of third and fourth-class teachers candidates in the nature of science in favor of third-class teachers candidates, while there was no significant difference in gender variation. The total scores that teachers candidates receive from the sub-dimensions of the scale of the nature of science "The Characteristics of Scientific Knowledge and Scientific Man", "Speciality and Technology in Science", "Social Cultural Structure" are significantly different in favor of third-class teachers candidates, but there is no significant difference between the scores for the sub-dimensions of "Being Open to Change" and "The Place of Theories in Science". The study found that the teaching candidates who participated in the study received points from each sub-dimensional scale of the nature of science and their levels of belief were at the "good" or "very good" levels.
The aim of this reseach is to examine the belief levels of pre-service science teachersaabout the nature of science. Scanning method was used in the research. The sample of the study consists of 96 pre-service scienceeeteachers studying in the third and fourth grades of science teaching at a faculty of education in the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. The Nature of Science Scale, which was developed by Özgelen (2013), consisting of fivessub-dimensions and with a Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of .83, was used as the data collection tool. Descriptive statistics and independent samples t-test analysis regarding the data obtained from the scale applied to pre-service teachers were used. According to the results of the analysis, there was a significant difference between third and fourth grade pre-service teachers' belief levels about the nature of science in favor of the third-grade teacher candidates, but no significant difference was found in terms of gender variable. The total scores of the teacher candidates from the sub-dimensions of "Features of Scientific Knowledge and Scientist", "Subjectivity and Technology in Science", "Social Cultural Structure" of the scale of the nature of science differ significantly in favor of the third-grade pre-service teachers, however, no significant difference was found between the scores for the sub-dimensions of "Openness to Change" and "The Place of Theories in Science". It was observed that the belief levels of the pre-service teachers participating in the study were at "Good" or "Very Good" levels in terms of the scores they got from each sub-dimension of the nature of science sclae.
