Abstract:

AIM: In this study a total of 44 patients with locally advanced gastric cancer with invasion to adjacent organs were evaluated retrospectively. MATERIAL and METHOD: The patients were evaluated according to the preoperative data including tumor localization, nodal status and presence of hepatic metastasis. RESULTS: Twenty three patients underwent potantially curative resection of stomach with the invaded organ. A palliative operation was perforamed for the patients who were unrescetable for cure. CONCLUSlON: In the patients locally advanced gastric cancer with invasion to the adjacents organs and without ffactors excluding curative resection such as peritoneal and extensive nodal involvement and hepatic metastasis, the goal of surgical therapy was potentially curative resection of stomach concomittant with the invaded adjacent organ. Here we achieved this in 52 percent of our cases.
