Abstract:

It is through the language that a person uses to communicate with his environment. Our mother tongue, which we begin to hear in the womb, covers an interactive and developmental process that continues until the end of our lives. In this process, we start to communicate by acquiring the basic language skills of Turkish. With the beginning of educational life, the acquisition of basic language skills begins to be more qualified. Turkish teachers' basic language skills in Turkish lessons have been identified in this study, which is a research article, the problems they face in the development process and the solutions they bring to these problems have been identified. For this purpose, research data were collected using a semi-structured interview form created in accordance with expert opinions with 82 Turkish teachers from 43 different schools working in the central districts of Antalya province. In the research, Turkish teachers were reached as much as possible according to the criteria of easy accessibility and proximity. According to the results obtained from the research findings, it was concluded that it would be useful to provide students with various trainings and support their basic language skills with activities and applications to solve the student-centered problems identified. The structures of basic language skills that affect each other should be taken into account in Turkish lessons. For this, the same sensitivity should be shown for each skill area. In Turkish lessons, it should be acted upon according to the idea that it will be useful to conduct activities that address all four basic language skills. By following the development of basic language skills in virtual environments such as blogs, social media that come into our lives with today's technology, the status of students in these media can be controlled. In these environments, applications can be developed that will increase students' interest in basic language skills.
