Özet:

Abstract In order to develop a healthy and sustainable tourism planning for destination management processes, it is important to know the attitudes and perspectives of the local people towards tourism and tourism development. The aim of this research is to investigate the attitudes and perspectives of the local people living in Fethiye towards the development of regional tourism. In the study, data were obtained from 477 people by using convenience sampling method. From the data obtained, the data of 28 participants, whose place of birth and place of residence were determined not to be Fethiye, were excluded from the scope of the research. As a result, analyzes were carried out on 449 valid data. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test and ANOVA were applied to the data obtained in Fethiye district between September 2021 and February 2022. As a result of the analysis of the data, it has been determined that the attitudes of the local resident living in Fethiye towards the development of tourism in their regions are positive. At the same time, it has been determined that there are significant differences between some demographic variables such as gender, marital status, age, education level, residence time in Fethiye and their attitudes towards the development of tourism. In the light of the findings obtained within the scope of the research, suggestions have been developed for destination managers and tourism researchers.
