Özet:

Abstract The attitude of the local people towards tourism development plays a key role for tourism development and a sustainable tourism success. In destinations with important touristic supply resources, local people may exhibit positive or negative attitudes towards tourism development under the influence of certain factors. In this study, which aims to examine the relationships between the local people's sense of urban belonging, perceptions of tourism's environmental impact and their attitudes to support tourism development, 494 usable questionnaires out of 500 applied to the local people residing in Antalya were analyzed by using quantitative research methods in line with the objectives determined. According to the findings obtained in the research; It indicates the existence of a positive relationship between the level of urban belonging and supporting tourism development, and between the perception of positive environmental effects of tourism and supporting tourism development. There is a negative relationship between the perception of negative environmental effects of tourism and the attitude of supporting tourism development. In line with the findings of the study, it is recommended that the destination management stakeholders focus on activities that will minimize the negative environmental effects of tourism instead of focusing solely on economic interests in order to provide support for the tourism development of the local people.
