Dede Korkut Oguznames are a basic product of our oral narrative tradition, which was later translated into writing. In terms of its subject, the epic includes the events related to the life of the khans and beys group of the Oghuz people who lead a nomadic life. Although it is based on the Oghuz tribe of the Turks, it plays an important role in defining the life style, culture, norm and value codes. Although it is an epic of the past among the Oghuzes, it has been the subject of many researches in the Turkish World and world scientific circles. In addition, it has been adapted in art branches such as novels, stories, movies, TV series and theatre. It has common features from all Turkish dialects. The epics are a product of the transition from a nomadic lifestyle to a settled one. For this reason, the characteristics of the transition process, conflict processes, struggles, individual and group relations can be observed. In this article, social problems will be discussed in general terms, starting from the point of social criticism, which is an important approach to the Dede Korkut epics in the examination of art and literature. The elements of social criticism in epics are also discussed in this article, with a focus on family and its structure, kinship relations and social behavior rules.
