Abstract:

The cinema has been an art branch that has changed and evolved very quickly from the end of the nineteenth century in which it was invented until today. It has been seen as a entertainment tool for the first twenty years, and with the discovery of the potential to tell stories, the ideas that could also be a branch of art have evolved. As a result of the development of this instrumental power of the cinema, the narrative traditions have also begun to form. These traditional narrative standards in the cinema, which appear in America with the Hollywood studio system, are based on representative forms of art. Another concept that Hollywood studios added to the cinema after sitting on the tradition of the cinema was the genre. Fantastic cinema attracts attention as one of the most suitable species to the Aristotle-represented narrative standards, i.e. the traditional narrative structure of the cinema. The art of cinema, which appeared in the years in which the modern flows showed themselves in other branches of art, after creating its own tradition, was influenced by these flows and transformed its own tradition with the modern film flows. In accordance with the modern art flows, feeding from the ideas of foreignization that show themselves in the social, cultural, political fields, it appears that the effect of foreignization is also shown in the modern cinema. In the fantastic cinema, it can be said that foreigning is quite rare. A small number of fantastic species seen in the Turkish cinema can be shown as an example taken in recent years in the movie You Light the Night (Honor Celebrity, 2013) it is seen that foreignization is used both as formal and content. The study discussed how the foreignization in this film was established and processed.
