In the academic research of theology, the concept of prophethood, attribut-ed to the Arabs of the Jahiliyyah period, is quite vague; only relating to the other religions of the community and a remembrance of the life of Hazrat Ib-rahim. Their viewpoint in this matter is also a remnant of the past cultures and traditions of prophethood and revelation. In our opinion, this is an incom-plete assessment of the subject. In the light of the Quranic revelations, it is quite evident that people of the Jahiliyyah period strongly believed in the coming of a prophet from within their ranks which sits beyond having a clear concept of prophethood. In this research, we will defend the notion that Ar-abs of the Jahiliyyah period had a strong concept of prophethood which would act as a justification for this thesis. There are two main reasons why the aforementioned comment is insufficient. First reason is the image that Jahiliyya Arabs acquired throughout the history. Second is the disregard of Qur’an’s historical/textual aspect in favour of a lit-eral reading. The historical image of the Jahiliyya Arabs is a result of the evolu-tion of their image from being pagan and being anti-prophet to being anti-religion. However, their opposition to the prophet was based on religious rea-sons.
