During the classical age of the Ottoman Empire, everyone had the right to hold an agent in the court within the framework of the provisions of Islamic law about the agency contract during the classical age. But the establishment of new courts and adoption of European codes required that people should have had some features to be an attorney in the courts. This situation was relevant to the modernization of legal education and also the beginning of the process of the institutionalization of advocacy. The provisions of attorney’s fee, rights, obligations, responsibilities being in the legal arrangements about advocacy and judicial organisation provided the formation of modern advocacy. Consequently it was taken over the heritage of advocacy from Tanzimat to the Republic
