The dams that started to be built in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia in the last quarter of the 20th century contributed greatly to the economic development of the region, but also caused a significant part of the cultural treasure to be submerged under the dam waters. Within the scope of the Lower Euphrates Project, which was initiated to determine the cultural assets that will be under the many dams, which were started to be built in this period, archaeological excavations were started in many areas in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolian region. In this context, Hores/Kores/Horis (today's name Yığınak) village of Kahta district of Adıyaman province is approximately 28 km south of Kahta district. As a result of the surveys carried out between 1977-1981 and the excavations within the scope of the Lower Euphrates Project, a large number of artifacts were encountered, together with the remains of castles and palaces dating to the 12-13 centuries. As a result of the excavations, various finds delivered to Adıyaman Museum remained in the museum warehouse after that date. As a result of our initiatives and researches, this castle-palace settlement on the banks of the Euphrates river, which is one of the important points among the medieval settlements of Southeastern Anatolia, and the introduction of the Islamic period medieval ceramics from this period will help us to obtain important information about the political, economic, commercial and daily life of the region in the Middle Ages. Making a comparative evaluation with the finds of other settlements in the region, which is contemporary, will help to increase our knowledge of the medieval texture of the region.
