Sanskrit kökenli olan maṇḍala kelimesi, Mahāyāna Budizm’inde ve Tantrik Budizm’de önemli bir yere sahiptir. Büyüsel ve simgesel bir anlam ifade eden maṇḍala, Budizm’de insan fizyolojisinin oluşumu, şehir, kent ve sarayların inşası ve evrenin oluşumuyla bağlantılıdır.
