English government, which played an active role with its hospital ships in Crimean War, opened military hospitals in İstanbul, İzmir and Çanakkale to support the Ottoman Empire against the Russians during the war. In addition to important health services, the English having an effective role in terms of winning the war carried through a change and a transformation in the hospitals around the country. In this context, the English recorded all the documents of the health services which they gave in the Ottoman lands during Crimean War in the year of 1854-1855. Within this framework, all the recordings made were transcribed. The English that renovated their health system during Crimean War firstly organized the hospitals under their rule, brought hygiene, lowered the numbers of pandemic and fatal soldiers, increased speed and quality of the services by getting a team of 40 nurses. Also, the English increased the capacities of the hospitals and made the buildings which were not constructed as hospitals suitable for the health services. They transformed the ships which served as different aims into the military ships and met the insufficient doctor needs. While the war was ongoing, they offered fast and qualified health service with the audits made by health committees coming from England. The aim of this study is to present the health services which were offered by the English in the Ottoman lands and the transformation in the hospitals. Within the scope of the study, the information revealed from the reports, the telegraphs and the minutes which were acquired from the original archive documents named “Official Reports of the Hospitals at Scutari, Kululeli, Abydos and Smyrna” held by British Foreign Ministry “English War Department (31 July 1856) were presented as a whole.
