Bu araştırma, Dünya Değerler Araştırmasında yer alan toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliği alt ölçeğinin Türkiye, İngiltere ve Hollanda örneklemleri arasında ölçme değişmezliğini sağlayıp sağlamadığını ve ilgili alt ölçekte bulunan maddelerin yine bu üç örneklem arasında değişen madde fonksiyonu gösterip göstermediğini ortaya koymak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Dünya Değerler Araştırmasının yedinci döngüsüne katılmış olan Türkiye, İngiltere ve Hollanda örneklemleri oluşturmaktadır. Dünya Değerler Araştırmasının toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliği alt ölçeği, bu araştırmanın veri toplama aracıdır. İlgili alt ölçeğin, tek boyutlu yapısını doğrulamak amacıyla doğrulayıcı faktör analizi gerçekleştirilmiş ve alt ölçeğin tek faktörlü yapısı doğrulanmıştır. Toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliği alt ölçeğinin örneklemler arasında ölçme değişmezliği gösterip göstermediğini ortaya koymak amacıyla çok gruplu doğrulayıcı faktör analizi gerçekleştirilmiş ve ölçme değişmezliğinin Türkiye-İngiltere örneklemleri arasında biçimsel düzeyde; Türkiye-Hollanda ile Hollanda-İngiltere örneklemleri arasında ise metrik düzeyde sağlandığı ortaya konulmuştur. Toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliği alt ölçeğinde yer alan maddelerin bu üç örneklem arasında farklı şekilde çalışıp çalışmadığını ortaya koymak amacıyla gerçekleştirilen SIBTEST ve olabilirlik oran testi sonuçlarına göre; Türkiye ve İngiltere örneklemleri arasında iki maddenin; Türkiye ve Hollanda örneklemleri arasında iki maddenin; Hollanda ve İngiltere örneklemleri arasında ise beş maddenin farklı şekilde çalıştığı ortaya konulmuştur. Bu sonuçlara dayanarak Dünya Değerler Araştırmasında yer alan toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliği alt ölçeğine dayalı kültürlerarası karşılaştırmaların daha dikkatli bir şekilde yapılması önerilebilir.
This study was carried out with the aim of revealing whether the under-scale of gender inequality included in the World Values Study provided the measurement unchanging between the examples of Turkey, Britain and the Netherlands and whether the substances in the relevant under-scale again show the substance function that varies between these three examples. The examples of the study are made by the examples of Turkey, Britain and the Netherlands, who participated in the seventh cycle of World Values Research. The low scale of social gender inequality in the World Values Study is the data collection tool of this study. A verifying factor analysis has been carried out in order to verify the one-dimensional structure of the relevant sub-scale and the one-factor structure of the sub-scale has been verified. The analysis of the multi-group verifying factor has been carried out in order to reveal whether the lower scale of gender inequality shows measurement inequality between the samples and the measurement inequality is provided at the formal level between the samples of Turkey-England; and between the samples of Turkey-Holland and the Netherlands-England is provided at the metric level. According to the results of the SIBTEST and probability test, which was performed in order to determine whether the substances in the lower scale of gender inequality work differently between these three samples; two substances between the samples of Turkey and England; two substances between the samples of Turkey and the Netherlands; and five substances between the samples of the Netherlands and the UK. Based on these findings, it may be recommended that cross-cultural comparisons based on the low scale of social gender inequality included in the World Values Study be done more carefully.
This research was conducted so as to find out whether measurement invariance is established for the gender inequality subscale in the World Values Survey among the subsamples of Turkey, Great Britain and the Netherlands, and whether the items in this subscale show differential item functioning among these three samples. The sample includes three subsamples, namely Turkish, British and Dutch samples, which participated in the seventh cycle of the World Values Survey. The gender inequality subscale of the World Values Survey is the measure of this research. So as to test the dimensionality of the relevant subscale, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted and the uni-dimensional structure of the subscale was confirmed. In order to reveal whether the gender inequality subscale shows measurement invariance among subsamples, multi-group confirmatory factor analysis was conducted and measurement invariance was established at configural level for Turkish-British samples while metric invariance was established both for Turkish-Dutch samples and and Dutch-British samples. According to the findings of the SIBTEST and likelihood ratio test, which were carried out to reveal whether the items in the gender inequality subscale operate differentially among these three samples; it has been revealed that two items operate differentially across Turkish and British samples; two items operate differentially across Turkish and Dutch samples, and finally five items operate differentially between Dutch and British samples. According to these results, it might be suggested to be more careful while making cross-cultural comparisons among these samples based on the gender inequality subscale in the World Values Survey.
