Abstract:

Tourism has been one of the world's largest and fastest growing industries in recent years and has become an important phenomenon of modern society. Tourism development is perceived by almost every country in the world as a powerful component of economic development strategies. It is also considered a quick and easy tool for economic development. In this context, health tourism is a new concept introduced to attract people seeking health care services beyond the geographical regions of countries. This paper explores and examines the issues surrounding medical tourism in today's environment. Similar to tourism initiatives, there are many entrepreneurial opportunities for this emerging health sector. The global growth of medical technology, capital financing and the flow of regulatory regimes along national borders, as well as with patients and health professionals, have led to the production of new consumption models and health services in recent years. Under the auspices of the World Trade Organization and the General Agreement on Trade in Services, the free movement of goods and services has accelerated the liberalization of trade in health services. This type of tourism is more profitable than other subdirectories of tourism and it addresses the sustainable development of tourism destinations more appropriately. In addition, the growth rate of this tourism sector is higher than other sub-categories of tourism, which require the government and private sector to invest and develop properly and consistently, due to its great influence on employment creation, foreign currency earning and sustainable tourism development. In this context, this paper will present an evaluation of the basic characteristics and trends of health tourism and globalization of the market. This is a descriptive study and it attempts to analyze the current situation and offer some complementary suggestions.
