YD Türkçe ve Fransızca Öğrenen Öğrencilerin Hasar Giderme İsteği Gerçekleştirimleri
2013
Journal:
Turkish Studies
Author:
Abstract:

In this study, speech-act productions of the students learning Turkish and French as a foreign language were analyzed, therefore it was tried to get clues for the relationship between the approaches to component of pragmatics in the foreign language teaching tools and student-productions in the light of concepts such as pragmatics, speech-act and inter-language. For this purpose, the concepts including pragmatics, speech-acts and demand for damage-reduction were initially defined in the article, then the discussions related to this subject and that took place within the foreign language teaching field were summarized. Then, we sought an answer for the question whether students were able to achieve the demand for damage-reductions in real-time situations. During this process Turkish and French teaching textbooks used by the students were evaluated in terms of their giving a place to the demand for damage-reduction issue. The results showed that even students with advanced level of language had problem in achieving the linguistic competence required by situation when they were confronted with the real-life communication situations. However, the results indicated that this might not necessarily due to the textbook used for the class. In addition, the data indicated that there were significant differences between the “fictional” utterances, texts produced by textbook authors based on their intuitive knowledge and utterances, texts produced by native speakers. The study also gave important results in terms of the fact that it proved the need to create a database that could include non-fictional performance of certain speech acts.
