Abstract:

Divan Lugat at-Turk (DLT) that was written by Kaşgarlı Mahmud for teaching Turkish language to Arabs in second half of XI. century is Arabic encyclopaedical dictionary with Turkish lexical entry. DLT that includes vocabulary of Turkish language and shows language and culture of Turkish community is one of the most important work in basic works. In this work, it’s possible finding social, cultural, economical, historical factors of XI. century Turkish community. For this reason, in historical process it has been the most important reference guide for researchers who have wanted researching Turkish culture and civilisation completely and a lot of works have been done about it in domestic and foreign. It is substantial like all field in terms of adjectives/qualifiers of people for characterising each other in accordance with several aims. Adjectives are language factors that include compliment and invective facts. People have praised or satirised each other by these adjectives. It’s possible having an idea about standard of judgement of community according to words which are used by people for each other. It’s called qualificative adjective which comes before noun and shows several qualities of nouns; it’s called determinative adjective which shows noun by number or indefinite, indicating and asking a question. It’s observed better by these adjectives how was seen woman, man, child, and all members of community generally in XI. century. In this work, it will be analyzed values has been continuous from past to present according to adjectives that show roles of member, members’perspectives with each other.
