Forough Farrokhzad who wrote idiocratical works in the various branches of literature and art put a lot of works into her fleeting life of thirty-two years, is known one of the taboo-breaking poets of contemporary Iranian literature as well as important. Literary critics who examined Forough Farrokhzad’s poetry say that her poetry style has two aspects and two periods. The way in which the poet deals with the subjects and topics that she works in her poems forms the basis of this distinction. This distinction is made between compilations of poetry books titled Esir, Duvar, İsyan “The Captive, The Wall, Rebellion” and poetry books titled “Let us Believe in Beginning of the Cold Season” and Bir Başka Doğuş “Another Birth”. However, whatever the poetry period was, Farrokhzad frequently used some certain words such as ‘hope, love, heart, kiss, longing, death, sin, grave, dungeon, and cage’ especially ‘darkness’ and ‘night’. In this study, Forough Farrokhzad’s poetry style and the words darkness and night which she used in almost every poem and yet as a matter of quantity took the first order will be examined and examples from these uses will be sampled.
