Certain acts/behaviors that have been counted as an offense throughout history have been forbidden by all societies and beliefs, and persons have been punished in the case of violation. There have been and will be the masses who obey the rules, as well as those who neglect and violate these rules, in every period of history. Therefore, some certain penal sanctions have been determined for criminals, and one of them is imprisonment. Imprisonment, which also exists in Islamic law, is one of the penalties restricting personal freedom. In this study, we have discussed the types and duration of imprisonment in terms of Islamic law.
