Özet:

Many novels have been written about the War of Independence and the founding period of the Republic. These novels, which were written, generally discussed the political events of the period from the framework of the official history, and therefore they wanted to reflect the actors and events of the period to the reader by using certain patterns. Sometimes they presented the events in a heroic way, and removed the events from reality. Kemal Tahir, on the other hand, approached the events from an alternative point of view unlike the novel and literary writers who adhered to this official history discourse. The author wanted to use the documents rather than an epic to reveal the facts like a historian. In this study, the opinions and thoughts about political events in the earlier Republican period (1923-1930) of Kemal Tahir, who had written many novels about the transition period from Ottoman to Republic, were examined. In this context, it was aimed to reveal how the important political events such as ideas, opinions and institutions that were inherited from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic of Turkey, the Progressive Republican Party, the Izmir Assassination and Liquidations and the establishment and closure of the Free Republican Party were reflected in his novels.
