Being a basic method used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of organizations, and detect the existing opportunities and threats, the SWOT makes it possible to see the current situation of an organization. Objective of this study is to analyze the current situation of primary and secondary schools through the method of swot analysis, and evaluate the internal and external factors affecting school. In order to ensure that the participants reveal their perceptions related to the current situation of educational organizations, the phenomenological method, which is one of the qualitative research methodologies, has been used. The study group is made up of 41 principals mastering in a postgraduate program without thesis at the Education Management Inspection, Planning and Economy Department of Fırat University Institute of Education Sciences in 2013-2014 academic year. The data acquired by means of data collection tool have been put through content analysis, and in this way the participants have presented their opinions related to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the scope of the study. According to the results of the study, have been stated by the participants frequently the principals think that the strengths of schools are their sufficient physical conditions as well as the fact that they are easily accessible, the weaknesses of schools are their insufficient physical conditions, low socio-economic and sociocultural levels of parents, the opportunities of schools as their central location sstrong communication between teachers, as unsafe school environments, uneducated and indifferent parents.
