In this research students attending the Department of Musical Education were examined for any significant difference between their scores on the musical aptitude test and their achievement scores in their disciplinary lessons in terms of their high school background: ?Anatolian Fine Arts High School? and ?Other High Schools? Datas for this research consisted of the scores students were given at the musical aptitude test for enrolment to Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Education Department of Fine Arts Education Musical Education Main Art Discipline in 2003 and the scores they have got during their undergraduate education The scores from musical aptitude test and achievement scores in disciplinary subjects were analysed for any significant difference between groups using Mann Whitney U test The subjects taught at the first second third and fourth grades were grouped as performance performance theory and theoretical under three main categories which constituted the basis for the examination of disciplinary subjects in this study According to the results no significant difference were determined between groups in terms of musical aptitude test scores and lessons they had during the undergraduate programme according to the types of schools they graduated from
