Another turn was taken in anti-terrorism activities of Turkey which have a history of around forty years together with Operation Olive Branch launched by Turkish Armed Forces on 20 January 2018 and a cross-border attempt was made for this purpose. News reported in national press on the operation which was launched in order to take under control and defeat terror elements threatening southern and southeastern borders of our country constitutes the subject of this study. Press institutions tend to approach any topic occupying the agenda of the public in a manner to satisfy views, thoughts and expectations of the social segment they appeal to or by which they are widely approved. On the basis of this assumption, it was aimed in the study to reveal how Operation Olive Branch was presented in the printed media in Turkey and what kind of discourse was developed. In the study, news reported regarding Operation Olive Branch in Sözcü, Star and Habertürk newspapers in January and February 2018 was analyzed through content analysis and discourse analysis methods. According to findings of the study, all three newspapers having different political tendencies developed a discourse that substantially supported Operation Olive Branch carried out by Turkey.
