The aim of the study is to evaluate the visual literacy levels of prospective teachers according to their perceptions. In this descriptive study, survey method was used. The study was carried out at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. The sampling covered 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students of 5 departments. The findings of the study showed that prospective teachers’ levels of visual learning, visual discrimination, and visual language and colour tips were high. Moreover, they “always agreed” about the items pertaining to visual learning. It was also observed that they “usually agreed” about the items on visual discrimination, visual language and colour tips. Based on the resultant data, suggestions were put forth so as to minimize the differences between the levels of classes of the prospective teachers and of their departments
