Protecting and promoting health is not only an individual issue but also a social one. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to determine health-promoting behaviors among university students and the sosyoeconomic and demographic factors that might influence them. The study sample of, consisted of sociology students at Dumlupınar University (n=456) who participated on a voluntary basis. We used a Health- Promoting Lifestyle Profile II, an instrument developed by Walker ve Hill-Polerecky (1997). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation. Our results show that overall health-promoting lifestyle behaviors among these students were at a moderate level. The longer students spend at the university, the more their health-promoting lifestyle behaviors decreased.. We found that health behavior is influenced by gender, socioeconomic status, and education of students’ mothers. To spread health-promoting lifestyle behaviors, comprehensive programs at the national level supported by social policies should be implemented and maintained
