Social networks are used for the purposes of self-identification, communication, and information exchange. Company Human Resource departments are increasingly using social networks when hiring new employees. Some companies are even taking recruitment decisions by analyzing the profiles of applicants and reviewing what they have shared, which shows that social networks have become an integral part of the recruitment process. In this study, we investigate to what extent university students use social networks in job applications and analyze their employment expectations. We utilize data collected in the Anadolu University Project “Education Related Academic Success and Employment Expectation from a Social Network Perspective.” In this project, a survey was conducted among 2951 students at Anadolu University, Osmangazi University, and Dumlupınar University. The survey data were analyzed to elucidate student expectations about social networks in the recruitment process.
