Özet:

The main purpose of this study is to contribute to the elimination of social exclusion. Disabled people feel alienated from society due to disadvantages they encounter in life. The lack of social support systems and the exclusionist attitudes and behaviors in the society prevent disabled individuals from full participation in social life. Art provides us with an important opportunity to express ourselves, generate new ideas and participate in the society actively and equally. A large population of disabled people lack the opportunity to produce and create in the field of arts just as they are excluded from education and production activities. The aim of this study is to enable disabled individuals and their peers to produce a theatre play jointly. Thus, through art, disabled individuals will have the opportunity to develop their personality and foster self-confidence. Their ties with the society will strengthen, and they will experience the pride of being a part of the society. Furthermore, the participation of the disabled in art activities is important in order to create the perception that they can contribute to all areas of life when given the opportunity and also in order to create awareness in the society. It is expected that this study will contribute to the strengthening of relations between disabled individuals and their peers and to the increase of university students’ consciousness and awareness about their disabled peers.
