The First and Second World Wars profoundly affected especially Europe and world. Though it avoided participating in the two World Wars, Spain endured a civil war during the interwar period. The prevailing conditions of the civil war in Spain, due to its geographical location and international character, led to the intervention of foreign states. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the importance of the Spanish Civil War, in terms of Spain and world. The study method was based on document analysis. In this study, teaching about the Spanish Civil War through the use of posters, historical novels and films were addressed. The Republicans came to power in the 1936 elections in Spain. Trying to break the power of the church and large landowners, they began organizing against the Republican government. The army supported this counter-action. The Nationalists were often supported in southern Spain, where there were large areas of land; whereas the Northern area, where the mining sector was and people wanted to get a special status in the Basque region the Republicans were supported. Directed by Franco, the Nationalists won the three-year-long bloody war. Because Franco has an army which disciplined and military occupation. In addition, there was steady external support for the Nationalists. Germany, Italy and Portugal provided continuous support to Franco. The Soviet Union, Mexico, and France supported the Republicans. In addition, volunteers came from fifty three countries to Spain and fought against the Nationalist in order to support the Republicans.
