Garib-nâme, which consists of 10613 couplets and was written by Âşık Paşa, is a moral and sufistic masnavi. Among its most important features are its plain language, carefully-written transcript, and its diversity of subject matters. One of the many notions in Garibname is the ‘world’ sign, which is signified through various signifiers. It is observed that the language in the work obtains a metaphoric structure. The perception of world is signified through various metaphors in the work. The aim of this paper is to present Garib-name with its main lines, and to explain the term metaphor from two points of view in terms of classical and contemporary approaches. By taking into consideration Aşık Paşa’s sufistic thought, I will discuss the world metaphor in Garib-name. After the metaphors and the themes regarding the ‘world’ signifier are remarked, Aşık Paşa’s perception of the world will be propounded
