Human beings begin to acquire mother language after birth. After a certain age, they can express their wishes, feelings and thoughts by using their mother language, so they communicate. The most effective way of communicating is vocabulary, both in mother and foreign language. In schools, the sounds, words and structural elements of a foreign language to be learnt are initially taught; afterwards, learners are expected to show competence in oral or written production. To do this, it is necessary to prepare high quality foreign language teaching materials. A higher quality book should be in a colorful and engaging format with instructive visuals, appropriate to the level of learners and their learning needs. This study is concerned with the introduction of a spelling guide “Ortographe Illustrée” and with the teaching of 200 illustrated words with a visual-semantic method, developed by experts from different areas and supported by the French National Centre for Science. This guide is aimed at teaching those individuals who have difficulties in learning to read in French, or who suffer from amnesia or who have lost their ability to write in French to learn how to read and write once again, and at teaching French learners reading and writing skills properly. These words which were presented in this guide are meant both to widen the extent of vocabulary of learners and to make it easier for them to spell words. Additionally, language teaching becomes more enjoyable if such studies are supported by technological elements.
