: There are two kinds of suffixes in Turkish that are added to nouns or the other nominal categories and the other to verbs and that make these two suffixes adverbs: dative A and gerund –A The fact that some of A suffixes denote no dative function and cause units that take this suffix directly into adverbs shows that in mentioned structures it carries similarities at least in terms of its function There is no doubt that A and –A are not the same suffixes at all and therefore it seems impossible to treat ±A symbol as the same function However this functional charasteristic of A suffix that is used in some words with adverbial function and that does not denote dative can be regarded that it is increased by affected –A adverbial suffix which is a homophone of A In this study the validity of this idea will be discussed Based on Türkçe Sözlük published in 2005 by Türk Dil Kurumu examples with A and –A suffixes will be sequenced and classified Key Words: Dative gerunds morphology adverb adverbial categories
