Ottoman historians had ground out many writings which have different kinds and names within approximate 600 years from foundation to collapse of Ottoman Empire. These works which are based on historians' observations act as a bridge between history and nowadays. Ottoman poets mentioned some important historical events which deeply influenced social and political life in their poems. Because some of the poems were written with the purpose of wining statesman's approval, collocutors were extolled. Thus poets wanted to reach statesmen's mercy and gift. In aforementioned poems, genre was brought into the foreground and so narrative of historical events was mostly pushed into the background. However it is possible that a lot of issues about Ottoman history have been learned from these poems. One of the historical events which were mentioned by Ottoman poets in these poems was conquest of Baghdad in 1638. In this study, the eulogy Târîh-i Feth-i Kalʻa-ı Bağdâd An-yed-i Sultân Murâd Hân-ı Râbi‘ İbn Sultân Ahmed Hân which was written by one poet who had pen name Avnî dedicated to conquest of Baghdad will be examined
