Ashik Ali from Tabriz who lived between 1900 and 1995 in this city, during hislifetime has had an important role in development of the Ashik tradition of Tabriz and in passing on this tradition to future generations. Traveling aroundmany provinces of Iran, particularly Tabriz, through stories and poems he hasexpressed feelings and thoughts, desires and whishes, difficulties and concerns ofhis people.After listening a broadcast about Dede Korkut on the Azerbaijan National Radioin his home in Tabriz, Ashik Ali from Tabriz expressed his feelings and thoughtsin a poem named “Kanatlı Ses” and sent it in a letter to the Azerbaijan NationalRadio. A response to his poem came from Azerbaijan’s poet of independenceBahtiyar Vahapzade.
