Abstract enAim of this research is to examine effect of cooperative learning and traditional learning on achievement and attitudes in mathematics. Two ninth classes have been selected. Quantitative research design was pretest-posttest. We used “Mathematics Achievement Test” and “Scale of Attitude toward Mathematics” to measure students’ achievement and attitudes. We observed that there was a statistical significant difference on students’ achievement scores (t(58)=3,91, p < ,001) and attitudes (t(58)=2,465, p < ,05) in favor of treatment group in result of t-test using the difference posttest-pretest points. Individual interviews have been made to determine reasons of this effect. The findings have been analyzed using descriptive method.
