Wetlands which are accepted as the world's museums of natural wealth due to the biological diversity that they have; are the most important ecosystems of Earth with their natural functions and economical values. Today the most important environmental problems threatening wetlands are; opening of lands to agriculture, increasing in salt concentration in soil, Using of agricultural fertilizer and pesticide intensively, and decreasing of erosion and organic matter with vegetative diversity. In this study, it has been aimed investigation of effects of land use activities around Işıklı Lake (Çivril-Denizli) on the lake. Within this scope, it has been tried to be explained effect by which expansion of agriculture areas in its surroundings was made on the lake. Landsat TM images were obtained in order to investigate change of land cover in the lake's immediate surroundings through the years of 1985-2010. Uncontrolled classification was applied to images belonging to months of August during the years of 1985 * Kilis 7 Aralık Üniversitesi, Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi,Coğrafya Bölümü,79100, KİLİS, [email protected]** Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi, Buca Eğitim Fakültesi, İlköğretim Bölümü, 35150, Buca / İZMİR, [email protected] 2010 on GIS environment. According to this, areas of irrigated farming around the lakes showed an increase at the rate of 100% through the years of 1985-2010. The increase occuring on the areas of irrigated farming caused Işıklı Lake to narrow in areal, and stimulated increase of aquatic plants within the lake.
