Occupational accidents cause socially and economically significant loss both in developed and developing countries. According to ILO each year, 2.2 million people lost their lives in the occupational accident. In Turkey, over 1600 people die in these accidents every year. In this case, an important part of occupational accidents like 95% based on “human”, requires more people-oriented approaches towards the prevention of accidents. In this context, to provide and develop the safety culture, which is described as the sub-function of organizational culture, in work environment is an issue that must be discussed first in the prevention of occupational accidents. In case of a good safety culture / positive safety culture is created, the level of perception and consciousness towards safety of employees and managers at all levels will increase.
