Abstract:

Despite the differences among the types, definitions, tools and methods of the application of violence, in the general sense it is the circumstance in which the other one is harmed directly or indirectly. It is also the situation of force and oppression in which  individual, massive or political dimensions may be experienced. The 21st century is being shaped with the reality that the violence cannot be eliminated completely but it can be controlled. In this paper, the interaction and the level of interaction between the “violence and politics” will be analysed. There is no doubt that there should not be an environment allowing such an interaction. However the politics, as our common existence level in the present, is the field either manipulating the violence or exposing to the violence. While the violence is turning into a systematic political tool in authoritarian and especially totalitarian regimes, in the presence of conditions where the intensive mass stresses and terror prevail, a chaotic force which could influence the politics emerges. The sanction power of the law that is seen as the reason for the existence of the State order does not correspond with the generation of violence by the politics since it is not voluntary and obligatory if necessary. For the sake of law and order, peace of the society and the survival of the State, use of force by the politics can be required in case of necessity. However, in consent-based hegemonic relations, in other words even it is voluntary, the abuse of the law generates a basis for the violence, moreover it is the violence. In the same manner, politicisation of the culture-based resorts such as religion and ethnicity has an impact  causing violence, as well. The terror as an outcome has much heavier effects on the political dynamics which deforms its structures and brings the violence into the field of politics.
