Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de mûsikîyi yasaklayan herhangi bir ayet ve ibâre bulunmamaktadır. Hz. Peygamber (s.a.v) de mûsikî hakkında, özel birkaç durum haricinde olumsuz bir hadis söylememiştir. Fakat Peygamber (s.a.v)’den sonraki dönemlerde mûsikî hakkında verilen hükümler birbirinden çok farklı olmuştur. Zühd hayatı yaşamaya çalışan bazı âlimlerin verdikleri hükümler, Hz. Peygamber (s.a.v)’in mûsikî hakkındaki görüşlerini yansıtmamaktadır. Emevî-Abbasî dönemlerinde mûsikî, siyâsi propaganda aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Mûsikî hakkındamüsbet görüş ve kararlar sûfi hayatı yaşamaya çalışan mutasavvıflarca vermişlerdir. Mutasavvıflar, bazı âyet ve hadisleri örnek göstererek, mûsikîyi mübah olarak görmüşler, dînî ritüel ve rakslarında da mûsikîyi kullanmışlardır. Biz bu çalışmamızda Mekke döneminden başlayarak Abbâsilerin son dönemlerine kadar mûsikî hakkında verilen hükümleri ve nedenlerini araştıracağız. O dönemdeki âlimlerin görüşlerini irdeleyerek, uygulamalarından örnekler vermeye çalışacağız.
