The aim of the study was to investigate undergraduate students’ substance use in terms of gender and life goals. The participants consisted of 361 (134 male; 227 female) university students. To gather data Life Goals Scale and Personal Information Questionnaire were used. In the analyses, chi-squared and t-test were performed. Results showed that male smoked cigarette more than did female. On the other hand, differences drinking alcohol were not significant in terms of gender. T-test results indicated that participants who smoke cigarette had less intrinsic life goals scores than those who did not smoked cigarette, but there were no significant difference extrinsic life goals scores. In additional results showed that participants who drink alcohol had less intrinsic and higher extrinsic life goals score than those who did not drink alcohol.
