The Qur’an talks about that Muhammad saw Archangel Gabriel twice in the chapters of Takwir and Necm. However, this event was later changed t o the claim that the Prophet saw Allah instead of Gabriel. In particular, this event is connected with the event of Muhammad’s ascension, whereas there is not any relationship between the ascension and the verses in the chapter of Necm. Moreover, as in the example of Moses, the Qur’an focuses that any human being including prophets cannot see Allah directly. In fact, it is stated in the chapter of Necm that the Prophet Muhammad did not see Al-lah but Archangel Gabriel. This article examines whether the Prophet Mu-hammad saw Allah or not based on the related verses in the Qur’an.
