The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between external debt, economic growth and current account balance in Turkey. Econometric analysis were made using cointegration analysis, causality test, impulse-response functions based on the VAR model, and variance decomposition methods. Causality analysis results show that external debt stock is bidirectional on GDP, current account balance is one-way causality relationship on GDP and external debt stock. In the impulse-response function results; current deficit has the effect of increasing on GDP, also external debt is used as an important source of financing for the current account deficit and external debt has been positively impacted on GDP. According to the results, external debt has been an important source of financing for economic growth and the current account deficit.
