A recently published inscription from Lycian Oinoanda provides interesting material for the civic life in this town and a member of a leading family: Lucius Septimius Flavianus Flavillianus. The peculiarities of his nomenclature indicate an individual admittance of his family to Roman citizenship during the early years of Emperor Septimius Severus. If we take our information concerning the life of Flavillianus it was not him, but his father who earned the citizenship for the family. This act may be connected with the civil war against Niger and special role the Lycian koinon played during this period.
