Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to analyze Turkish banking sector’s national and international situation and its threats and opportunities with micro economics approach. In this framework, policy implications are developed by testing the hypothesis which are derived from the literature and established by us. For findings which are basic for policy implications; three approaches were used. For the first approach, to determine the technical efficiency level of each decision unit, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is selected. To calculate Total Factor Productivity, Malmquist Index approach is used. Using the findings obtained from these approaches, the organizational efficiency and sources of ineffectiveness in the Turkish banking sector is tried to be determined by imposing Tobit technique. Additionally in this paper, parametric and non-parametric techniques are used to analyze the data obtained from senior executive by questionnaire technique. The results are reported with other findings. Policy implications are set according to the results reached.
