Transcaucasia (South Caucasus) has always been a chaotic region since the collapse of the Soviet Union. There are internal and external reasons for this status. As for the internal factors, a multi-fragmented and intertwined demographic structure in the region and border conflicts between the three new states can be considered. As regards the external reasons, Russia is concerned with the control over the region since it attains the potential to be a center of interest for global and regional powers with its importance in various respects. In this article, short and long term policies to achieve ultimate stability and welfare in the region that Turkey particularly should execute will be evaluated with reference to historical facts and considering the southern Caucasian conflict and its chaotic structure as well as the influence of Russia over the region.
