Abstract:

Ahmed Midhat Efendi (1844-1912), one of the Ottoman thinkers who struck his mark in the second half of the nineteenth century. Ahmed Midhat Efendi, a witness to the process of the fall and disintegration of the Ottoman State, has thought about what should be done in the face of this situation and has proposed a number of solutions according to himself. Although he did not receive economic education, he thought a lot about economic issues, and in his works Economy Politics and Sevda-i Sa'y ü Amel directed his economic-based views and thoughts, and in these works he revealed his advocacy views. Ahmed Midhat Efendi has expressed his economic views not only in his works and in his thought writings, but also in literary kinds such as memories, travel writings, novels and stories, he has addressed economic issues in the background of many stories and novels. Sometimes he has been trying to show in the course of the events, and sometimes the heroes have been trying to show what the financial and economic measures to take for the liberation of the state are in accordance with the theory of "inheritance". The reason for Ahmed Midhat's choice of such a path is to inform and guide the large public masses about the basic financial and economic issues. In this study, we tried to show the economic concepts in Ahmed Midhat Efendi’s more literary works and how they are used and perceived in everyday life. The work consists of two sections. The first part includes the determination of the relationship between economics and literature through Ahmed Midhat; the second part shows the economic concepts in the stories and novels of Ahmed Midhat Efendi and how they are integrated with the type of story and novel.
