Abstract:

Culture has an indisputable place in the establishment of politics. Thus, political party logos which has an important place in mass communication, feed on cultural symbols and contain promises about the future by emphasizing habits in social memory. In Turkey, Six Arrows logo of the Republican People's Party and the values it represents, are tried to be explained by changing political agenda by civil society. In the name of democratization, the diversified approaches within the scope of the logo support the continuity of economic and cultural debates within the scope of Kemalism and lead to a democracy dilemma rather than democratization of politics. The historical origins and the reasons of criticism towards Kemalism as ethnic nationalist in terms of cultural, as corporatist in terms of economic policies and the explanations brought to the logo by the civil society will be examined in the context of political and cultural representations of the logo to bring a satisfactory research and clarification within the context of the logo. The logo will be evaluated in terms of formality, relations, integrity its cultural ties and messages. The answers will be sought to the criticisms, which are towards the economy and culture policies of Kemalism in the context of democracy.
