Fethiye has placed separately in our rich flat weaving culture with its typical color, motif and pattern features and has an important textile manufacturing center. In the area flat weavings are traditionally manufactured with kilim, jejim and sili techniques for different uses, such as sackcloth, beam, prayer rugs, prayers, saddlebags, bags, sacks, sackcloth. The local calls flat weavings as kilim with a general statement. Eldirek (red kilim) kilim, Seydiler kilim, mirrored kilim, yellow prayer rug (crazy sili), yantırlı kilim, black sackcloth and ala sackcloth are important flat weavings of Fethiye. In this study, it was aimed to examine alara weavings that taken the place between these weavings that forms the tradition of flat weavings of this region in terms of size, weaving techniques, colors, motif, design and pattern characteristics. Wool and camel wool used in the past in Alara kilims woven as beam, prayer rugs and prayer while wool and cotton yarn usage has become widespread nowadays. Weavers have mostly bought own yarns dyed and as ready to use.Some weavers have dyed weaving yarns themselves. Such as Yoz pıtrak, göbekli pıtrak, kurbağacık, devetabanı, sığır sidiğimotifs are frequently seen motifs in alara kilims. Weavings woven with rare jejim technique are called yanışlı alara.
