Yalvaç district of Isparta is the center of plain weaving from past to present. By being a nomadic settlement, kirkit weaving is a rooted tradition in this region and “ölümlük-‐dirimlik” weavings is one of the products that has been woven for a variety of using. These weavings are known as “Sargı Kilimi” or “ahretlik” and they are used during burial process, then they are being donated to mosques or cem houses. Today, weaving is greatly diminished in district. Nevertheless, rugs that has been woven before is taken by dealers who come to villages and changed with machine-‐made rugs. Although weaving is greatly diminished, “ölümlük-‐dirimlik” tradition is going on and these weavings exist in unmarried girls’ dowry. This tradition consists in almost every region of Anatolia, “ölümlük-‐dirimlik” is a part of unmarried young girls’ dowry for them and their husbands and they are being used when their time comes. As a result of research, it’s been found that weavings are colored by herbal dyes replace with synthetic dyes by time. Each of them have their unique motifs and patterns and motifs like velcro-‐type, hair band, eye, cleat, hook, bird, monster feet, star, chest, scorpion, amulet and waterway are often used.
